Mohamed Lamaan has been appointed as an Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Maldives Ports Limited, effective May 1, 2026, the Privatization and Corporatization Board announced.
Lamaan is expected to assume the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at MPL, marking a swift transition following his resignation as Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited.
His appointment positions him within the country’s critical maritime sector, where MPL plays a central role in port operations and national trade logistics.
Widely regarded as an efficient and results-driven executive, Lamaan earned recognition for strengthening operational performance during his tenure at Velana International Airport, particularly during a period of increasing passenger and cargo activity.
Prior to his role at MACL, he served as Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, overseeing large-scale public utility services.
The move is seen as part of broader efforts to reinforce leadership and improve performance across key state-owned enterprises.
