Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced its participation in this year’s Eid Haveeru 1447 celebrations, with a range of cultural performances, family entertainment and interactive activities planned for visitors at Hulhumalé Central Park.
The three-day event, scheduled to take place from May 27 to May 29, forms part of a nationwide Eid al-Adha celebration initiative launched under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The programme aims to strengthen community ties, promote national unity and provide families with opportunities to celebrate the festive season together.
Held daily from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Eid Haveeru 1447 will feature activities and entertainment designed for people of all ages, with various government institutions and state-owned enterprises participating through themed exhibition and activity zones.
As part of its contribution, MACL is preparing a dedicated area inspired by Maldivian culture and Eid traditions. The company said visitors can expect traditional performances and cultural displays, including Koadi and Maali processions accompanied by Bodu Beru performances.
The activity zone will also feature several attractions aimed at children and families. Popular mascots inspired by internationally recognised children’s characters are expected to make appearances throughout the celebrations, while a specially constructed treehouse decorated with traditional palm fronds will provide a unique play area for younger visitors.
MACL has also planned a variety of interactive activities, including a Wrecking Ball challenge, Wipeout-style inflatable games, a Bubble House, henna art stations and face-painting sessions.
Adding to the festivities, a well-known Maldivian football player is also scheduled to make a special appearance at the MACL activity area during the event, although further details have not yet been announced.
The company’s stall will be located at the eastern entrance of Hulhumalé Central Park, where visitors will be able to participate in the various activities and cultural experiences throughout the celebration period.
Eid Haveeru has become one of the flagship community events held during Eid holidays in recent years, bringing together government agencies, businesses and community organisations to create a festive atmosphere for families. The initiative is designed to encourage social interaction and celebrate Maldivian culture through traditional performances, games and recreational activities.
MACL said its participation reflects the company’s broader commitment to supporting national initiatives that foster community engagement and create meaningful experiences for the public.
Beyond its role as the operator of Velana International Airport, MACL regularly takes part in social and community programmes across the Maldives as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.
With thousands of visitors expected to attend Eid Haveeru 1447, organisers anticipate another vibrant celebration that combines traditional culture, family entertainment and community spirit during one of the most important holidays on the Islamic calendar.
