In a diplomatic ceremony underscoring the Maldives’ growing engagement with regional partners, the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Maldives, His Excellency Dr Alireza Delkhosh, formally presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President’s Office.
The Ambassador’s arrival was marked by a traditional cultural procession, “Haiykolhu,” accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force Drum and Trumpet Band, symbolizing the Maldives’ warm hospitality and respect for diplomatic tradition.
Following the official credential presentation, President Muizzu and Ambassador Delkhosh engaged in high-level discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties grounded in mutual respect, Islamic solidarity, and a shared vision for regional cooperation. Both parties expressed eagerness to enhance economic relations, foster technical collaboration, and promote deeper people-to-people exchanges.
President Muizzu reiterated the Maldives’ steadfast support for peace and stability in the Middle East. He affirmed the country’s willingness to contribute to diplomatic efforts on international platforms aimed at de-escalating regional tensions, particularly in light of recent geopolitical unrest.
Ambassador Delkhosh thanked the Maldivian government for its principled stance, conveying the appreciation of the Iranian leadership for President Muizzu’s firm condemnation of Israel’s recent attack on Iran — a move the President had publicly denounced as a severe breach of international law.
The meeting reflects the administration’s proactive foreign policy under President Muizzu, which emphasizes constructive partnerships and principled diplomacy.
