The Malé City Group of Hospitals (MCGH) has commenced a Multi-Specialty Surgical Camp at R. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, marking a significant step toward expanding advanced healthcare services in the atolls.
The program offers consultations with specialists across multiple medical fields, surgical operations, and capacity-building sessions for local doctors and nurses. It also includes a comprehensive assessment of the hospital’s clinical and functional capabilities.
MCGH Chief Executive Officer Abdul Razzaq Haleem, in an announcement on X, emphasized that the initiative reflects the hospital group’s commitment to bringing quality healthcare closer to communities. He noted that strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Health and regional hospitals is central to MCGH’s mission of improving nationwide access to specialized medical care.
The camp underscores the growing role of regional hospitals in providing advanced treatment and training opportunities, reducing the need for patients to travel to Malé for specialized services. It also supports the government’s broader vision of decentralizing healthcare and ensuring equitable access to essential services across the country.
