The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has unveiled comprehensive arrangements for Eid al-Adha prayers across the Greater Malé region, aiming to accommodate large congregations while ensuring accessibility for all worshippers.
This Friday, June 6, 2025, Eid prayers will be held at four major outdoor venues:
- Maafannu Stadium in Malé
- Vilimale’ Football Ground
- Hulhumale’ Synthetic Track
- Hulhumale’ Phase 2 Cricket Stadium
In addition to these, 24 mosques across Malé, Vilimale’, and Hulhumale’ have been designated for Eid prayers. These include prominent mosques such as the Islamic Centre, Masjid al-Sultan Mohamed Shamduddin, and Masjid al-Sheikh Qasim bin Mohamed al-Thani.
Contingency Plans for Inclement Weather
Should unfavorable weather conditions arise, the Ministry has confirmed that Eid prayers will be conducted in all mosques where Friday prayers are typically held, ensuring that worshippers can still participate in the celebrations.
Earlier Prayer Time for Comfort
In an effort to mitigate discomfort from rising morning temperatures, the Ministry has advanced the Eid prayer time to 7:00 AM, a shift from the previous 7:30 AM schedule. This decision aligns with traditional practices and aims to enhance the overall experience for attendees.
Inclusive Arrangements for All Worshippers
Recognizing the diverse needs of the community, the Ministry has arranged separate spaces for women at all designated prayer venues and mosques. Worshippers are encouraged to perform ablution at home and bring their own prayer mats and water bottles to maintain hygiene and comfort.
These comprehensive preparations reflect the Ministry’s commitment to facilitating a spiritually fulfilling and inclusive Eid al-Adha celebration for all residents of the Greater Malé area.
