MTCC delivers resilient 2025 performance with MVR 2.13 billion revenue

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 3 hours ago

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) strengthened its financial position in 2025 while maintaining a major pipeline of infrastructure projects across the country, highlighting the state-owned company’s expanding role in national development.

MTCC entered 2026 with improved financial discipline after recording a marked improvement in profitability during the previous year, despite pressures associated with working capital and a challenging operating environment, according to its 2025 Annual Report.

The Group generated MVR 2.134 billion in revenue during 2025, maintaining a broadly stable revenue base despite a 1.04 percent decline compared with the previous year. MTCC said its diversified operations helped provide resilience, with activities spanning construction and dredging, transport, trading and real estate, alongside logistics, docking, ship agency and maintenance services.

Infrastructure development remains at the centre of MTCC’s operations. Its Construction and Dredging Department ended 2025 with 459 projects on hand, representing a substantial pipeline of national development work that will continue into 2026.

The company also reorganised its construction operations into six zones during 2025, aimed at strengthening project management, workforce capabilities and the efficient deployment of resources across the Maldives. MTCC plans to complement government infrastructure projects by pursuing more private-sector opportunities, including resort reclamation and infrastructure projects capable of generating foreign currency.

Beyond infrastructure, MTCC continued investing in its workforce through professional training, leadership development and career advancement programmes. The company said it remains committed to equal opportunities, greater participation of women and an inclusive workplace.

With operations extending throughout the archipelago, MTCC said its strategy for the coming period will focus on stronger financial resilience, diversified revenue and building the workforce, machinery and systems required to deliver its extensive national infrastructure commitments.

The outlook positions MTCC to remain a key engine of infrastructure development while building a more efficient and financially resilient organisation capable of supporting the Maldives’ long-term growth.
