Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has introduced 1575 as its new Customer Care Hotline, separating general customer enquiries from emergency reports as part of changes to its customer support services.
The new arrangement came into effect on August 21, 2026, with customers now able to contact 1575 for information, assistance and other matters relating to MWSC services.
The hotline will operate daily from 8:00 am until midnight, giving customers access to support for 16 hours each day.
At the same time, MWSC’s existing 105 hotline will be dedicated exclusively to emergencies. Unlike the customer care line, the emergency hotline will continue operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
MWSC has also introduced changes to how its outgoing calls appear on customers’ phones. Calls made by the company’s customer care team will display 1575, while calls concerning emergency services will appear under 105.
The distinction is intended to make it easier for customers to identify calls from MWSC and determine whether they relate to routine customer service or an emergency.
MWSC said the changes form part of efforts to improve the accessibility and efficiency of its customer support system as the utility company continues to expand its services.
The state-owned company provides water and sewerage services in the Greater Malé Region and has also been expanding its involvement in water and sanitation infrastructure elsewhere in the country.
Alongside its day-to-day utility operations, MWSC has been working on projects aimed at strengthening water security and modernising water and sewerage infrastructure as demand increases with population growth and urban development.
Under the revised customer support arrangement, customers seeking general information or assistance with MWSC services should contact 1575, while 105 should be used for emergencies requiring immediate attention.
