Ninth Floor Nightmare: What Really Happened Before the Woman Fell?

By Ahmed Ashraf Published April 23, 2025

In the early hours of Friday morning, a 21-year-old woman was found injured atop a warehouse roof in Henveiru, Male’. Authorities have since confirmed that she fell through a skylight on the ninth floor of an adjacent building while heavily intoxicated.

The incident, which occurred around 4:52 a.m., was captured on CCTV footage presented during a closed-door police briefing. The footage shows the woman and a male companion, both barefoot and visibly intoxicated, entering H. Fantonia—a residence they had no known ties to—through an unlocked door.

Once inside, the pair wandered through the building’s upper floors, engaging in erratic behavior and knocking on apartment doors. At one point, the woman donned the man’s T-shirt before ascending to the ninth floor. Moments later, a loud thud was heard, believed to be the sound of her fall through the skylight onto the warehouse roof below. The man, who was on the stairs at the time, is seen reacting to the noise and searching for her.

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 7:23 a.m., and the woman was transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment. She sustained serious injuries but was reportedly conscious upon discovery. Authorities have stated that there is no evidence of foul play or sexual assault, despite speculation on social media. Both individuals tested positive for drugs, with the man specifically testing positive for cannabis.

Police have identified eight individuals who were with the woman earlier that night, none of whom are political figures. While most have been questioned, two remain unaccounted for. No arrests have been made, but the male companion has been barred from leaving the country pending further investigation.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and have urged the public to refrain from sharing images of the injured woman circulating on social media, citing privacy concerns.
