The Maldives Police Service has welcomed the appointment of Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed (TwoFour) as the new Commissioner of Police, following his selection by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, marking a significant leadership transition within the country’s law enforcement body.
In an official statement, the police service congratulated Ahmed Mohamed on assuming the top post, highlighting his extensive experience spanning more than three decades. Since joining the force in 1995, he has served in several senior operational and investigative roles, building a reputation for leadership across key policing functions.
Ahmed Mohamed has also undergone advanced professional training, including the Basic Training Course for IPS Probationers at the prestigious Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in India. His academic credentials include a Master of Shari’ah and a Bachelor of Shari’ah (Honours) from Villa College.
The police statement reaffirmed full institutional support for the new Commissioner, expressing confidence in his ability to strengthen national security, enhance public safety, and uphold public trust in policing.
The appointment comes at a time when authorities continue efforts to modernize law enforcement and reinforce community confidence in public institutions across the Maldives.
