President Muizzu urges students to begin each day with Fajr prayer at Shaheed Ali School opening

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 21 hours ago

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on students and parents to make the Fajr prayer a daily priority, stressing that moral discipline and spiritual grounding are essential to building a resilient and progressive nation.

Speaking at the official inauguration of Shaheed Ali School in Hulhumalé Phase 2, the President urged parents to instil the habit of starting each day with prayer in their children. He emphasised that the teachings of Islam should not remain confined to written text, but must be reflected through daily practice and conduct.

The President highlighted the importance of organising school routines in a purposeful manner, allowing students to make effective use of their time. He expressed satisfaction that the newly opened school includes two dedicated prayer rooms, enabling students to observe prayers conveniently as part of their daily school life.

Addressing students directly, President Muizzu urged them to remain steadfast in prayer and to show obedience and respect to their parents and teachers. He stated that respect for educators, parents, and leaders forms a solid and unshakeable foundation for a child’s future, one that equips them to face challenges with confidence and resilience.

Concluding his remarks, the President stressed that national development cannot rely on physical infrastructure alone, noting that the advancement of human thought, intellect, and values must progress hand in hand with development projects.

Shaheed Ali School, developed by the current administration, has been constructed to modern educational standards to meet the growing needs of Hulhumalé Phase 2. According to the Ministry of Education, the school has an initial capacity of 1,500 students, with the ability to accommodate up to 2,500 students under a two-session system. The institution provides education from Grade 1 to Grade 10 across 54 classrooms and is supported by a 400-seat auditorium, library, computer laboratory, three science laboratories, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a multipurpose hall, and a turf ground, reinforcing its role as a key addition to the nation’s expanding education infrastructure.
