President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took to social media today to announce the commencement of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service in Raa Atoll and shared plans to roll out operations in Baa Atoll by July. In a post on his X account, the president reaffirmed his commitment to expanding nationwide maritime connectivity under the government’s infrastructure vision.
In his X post, President Muizzu reminded citizens of his promise to activate ferry services in Raa Atoll by the end of June—now fulfilled—and disclosed that preparations are underway for Baa Atoll, where services will begin before July concludes. He also reiterated the pledge to connect all remaining atolls by year-end.
This announcement follows earlier remarks made during a Jan 22 tour of Raa Atoll, where President Muizzu introduced initiatives including passport services, urban development in Ungoofaaru, and forthcoming ferry and airport infrastructure—highlighting his commitment to atoll-level development.
With RTL already operational in zones spanning the northern (Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu), central (Lhaviyani), and southern atolls (Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu, Fuvahmulah, Addu), the inclusion of Raa and Baa Atoll marks a critical phase toward achieving full archipelago connectivity.
