State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has commissioned a new 360-kilowatt generator set in M. Dhiggaru, increasing the island’s electricity generation capacity.
STELCO said the generator has been delivered, installed and successfully brought into operation as part of efforts to strengthen electricity services on the island.
According to the company, the additional generation capacity will help improve the reliability of Dhiggaru’s electricity network and support a more consistent power supply for residents.
The new generator also provides additional capacity to accommodate electricity demand on the island while strengthening the overall resilience of the local power system.
STELCO has been undertaking upgrades to power infrastructure across islands under its service network, including the installation and replacement of generator sets and other equipment required to maintain reliable electricity services.
The company said the latest addition in Dhiggaru is aimed at ensuring residents receive a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply.
