The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has conducted its annual blood donation campaign in partnership with Maldivian Blood Services (MBS), reaffirming its commitment to supporting healthcare services and community welfare in the Maldives.
The initiative brought together STELCO employees who volunteered to donate blood to help replenish national blood stocks and support patients who depend on regular transfusions and emergency medical care.
According to STELCO, the blood donation drive was organized as part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and reflects its continued commitment to humanitarian causes.
The utility company noted that maintaining adequate blood reserves remains essential for the healthcare system, particularly for patients undergoing major surgeries, accident victims, and individuals living with conditions such as thalassemia, who require frequent blood transfusions throughout their lives.

STELCO praised the strong participation shown by its workforce, highlighting the willingness of employees to contribute to a cause that directly benefits the wider community.
In a statement, the company expressed appreciation to staff members who took part in the initiative, describing their participation as an example of social responsibility and community spirit.
The annual campaign was conducted in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services, the country’s primary blood collection and distribution authority. MBS regularly works with government institutions, private companies and community organizations to organize blood donation events aimed at maintaining sufficient supplies for hospitals and healthcare facilities nationwide.
Blood donation campaigns have become increasingly important as health authorities continue efforts to ensure a stable supply of blood products for patients across the Maldives. Medical professionals frequently encourage healthy individuals to donate blood, noting that a single donation can help save multiple lives.

STELCO has been a regular participant in such humanitarian initiatives over the years, alongside its primary role of providing electricity services across the country. The company has also been involved in various community-focused programs, environmental activities and social development projects under its CSR framework.
Officials said the latest donation drive reflects STELCO’s broader commitment to giving back to society and supporting initiatives that improve the well-being of Maldivian communities.
With demand for blood remaining constant throughout the year, organizations such as STELCO continue to play an important role in encouraging voluntary donations and supporting the healthcare sector’s efforts to meet the needs of patients nationwide.
