Bank of Maldives has initiated construction of a new branch in Lh. Hinnavaru, positioning the island to receive expanded financial services in line with the nation’s growing banking needs. The groundbreaking ceremony took place today with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in attendance, joined by key government dignitaries and senior leadership of the Bank, including Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb and CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef.
The new facility marks an important step in reinforcing BML’s presence across Lhaviyani Atoll. The Bank currently provides a full branch service in Naifaru and has already enabled access to modern financial conveniences through Self Service Banking ATMs available on every inhabited island in the atoll.
Recognized as the largest financial institution in the Maldives, Bank of Maldives continues to lead nationwide coverage. Its network spans 42 branches across all 20 atolls, 200 Self Service Banking Centres, 258 ATMs, and an expanding network of Agent Banking services. The Bank also maintains a strong digital presence with advanced online and mobile banking platforms that support both personal and commercial customers.
The Hinnavaru expansion aligns with BML’s ongoing strategy to broaden access to banking solutions that drive local economic growth and enhance service accessibility for communities beyond the capital region.
