Four vehicles collide on bridge highway; two hospitalised

Two people have been hospitalised following a multi-vehicle collision on the Hulhumalé bridge highway late last night, police confirmed.

According to authorities, the accident involved four vehicles — two cars and two motorcycles — which collided along the busy highway. The impact left two individuals injured, who were later taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment.

Police have not yet disclosed details about the condition or severity of the injuries sustained by those involved.

Shortly after the crash, videos and images from the scene began circulating on social media. Footage widely shared online shows several people gathered around the site of the collision, with some individuals lying on the ground while bystanders attempted to assist them before emergency responders arrived.

Authorities said officers responded to the scene soon after the accident and secured the area while emergency services attended to those involved.

Police confirmed that investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
