The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is preparing to expand its footprint beyond the Maldives, with growing interest from foreign firms opening doors to potential international projects.
Speaking during an interview on MMTV, the company’s Managing Director, Ahmed Saudee, said MTCC’s expanding portfolio of large-scale infrastructure projects has significantly strengthened its position, both locally and abroad.
According to Saudee, the company’s track record has begun attracting attention from international partners seeking collaboration on projects outside the Maldives. He noted that several foreign companies have already approached MTCC with partnership proposals, viewing its experience and project delivery as a valuable advantage.
“MTCC is a public company with strong community shareholding and a wide range of infrastructure projects. As our portfolio grows, international confidence in the company is also increasing,” Saudee said, adding that this momentum is expected to improve the company’s competitiveness in global tenders.
He further revealed that discussions are currently underway with multiple foreign entities, including at least two parties that have formally expressed interest in working with MTCC on overseas developments.
One such proposal involves a major Indian firm exploring the possibility of partnering with MTCC on an airport development project in Mauritius. Saudee explained that MTCC’s experience and completed projects could strengthen the consortium’s bid, giving it a competitive edge in securing the contract.
Looking ahead, he emphasized that entering international markets and successfully winning overseas projects remains a key strategic objective for the company, marking a significant step in MTCC’s long-term growth plans.
