A 48-year-old male tourist from the Maldives has alleged that USD 2,200 was stolen from his hotel room in Pattaya, Thailand, after he brought three Thai women back to the property following a night out.
The complaint was filed at Pattaya City Police Station, where Thai authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the alleged theft.
According to the tourist, he had travelled to Thailand with three friends for a holiday in Bangkok before the group later headed to Pattaya, a city internationally known for its nightlife and entertainment scene.
The group had booked two nearby hotel rooms during their stay. The man claimed they had been drinking heavily before meeting three women along Pattaya Beach around 4 a.m. He alleged the women accompanied them back to the hotel shortly afterwards.
The tourist told investigators that one of the women took him into the shower while the two others allegedly remained inside the room and searched through his luggage and personal belongings.
His three friends were reportedly staying in the second hotel room at the time.
According to the complaint, the women left the hotel around 6:30 a.m. After their departure, the tourist discovered that more than USD 2,000 in cash was missing from his belongings.
Hotel CCTV footage reportedly captured the women entering and leaving the building through the reception area. The tourist later identified two women from the footage whom he believes were involved in the alleged theft.
The man later contacted Crime Asia claiming he was frustrated over what he described as slow progress in the case despite formally reporting the incident to police.
Thai authorities confirmed the complaint has been officially recorded and investigators are continuing to review available evidence. No arrests have been announced, and no suspects have been publicly identified as the investigation remains ongoing.
